If you’re planning a trip and looking to book a hotel or other type of accommodation, the internet is a great place to start. In this post, we’ll provide some helpful tips for making your first online booking a breeze.
1. Prepare your own Travel Checklist
In our first guide blog post, we prepared a simple checklist for Travel. Based on our example or other examples on the Internet, you could prepare your own checklist, what you need to check, and what is important for you. What you would like to visit? Based on that you can choose the best accommodation possible.
2. Location of the Accommodation
If you are traveling for the first time. The location could be one of the important factors. The first time could be a difficult one, it will help if your Hotel is located in an easy location. (Not necessarily just behind Train Main Station or Airport)
If you are traveling to a Country or Region with good public transport service. Please check the ticket tariff and chose stops with a good connection to your departure place (Airport, Main Stations). Your perfect hotel should be located at the nearest one of the stops.
Please remember to check how they look like the Airport and Main Stations, where is located ticket machine and your next means of transport. Again, please check the tariff in advance. I make mistake in this during my Travel to Swiss last year. Investigating and correcting mistake after departure take too long time. If you can avoid it on your trip, it is better for you.
3. Check Reviews
Check reviews and opinions about Hotels and accommodations in your destination place. Please double-check in more than just one place ratings.
You can also check if your location is available for ranking and recommendation.
Observe Travel Vloggers and Bloggers if they visited a place where you are arriving, but please be careful. Sponsored visits should be double check by you.
4. Check the Terms and Conditions
Check (again double check later) Terms and Conditions, especially:
- Any cancellation policies
- Pets stay if applicable
- Child rules
- Numbers of People allowed to stay with you.
- Additional Requirements.
- Payments rules – for the first time better is payment during check-in or free cancellation ex. 1 week before the start date.
Remember, for the first time, you are learning the process, some time is better to pay a little bit more, but a safer offer, as has more risk.
After you check the Terms and Conditions before you book. Please check also the booking confirmation, if they are clear as well. Please do not leave confirmation e-mails without reading them.
5. Safety
If you are traveling for the first time or you have fewer experiences, please avoid times, when we have vacation season on place or some bigger conferences taking place. If you are ordered you stay with payment during check-in if something happens you can always quickly organize backup accommodation. (This never happened to me, but before a trip, I have knowledge about possible backup stays) From the second side, please avoid none fair behavior like ordering two accommodations.
Please check the chargeback policy and how to process it in your bank account. In case of a problem with already paid accommodation, you can request the bank to send you your money back.
